Barossa Wine Lovers tour

Today was the best day yet. We took a wine lovers tour that took us all around the Barossa to 5 different wineries, Angus Park dried fruit and just some scenic driving. Our tour guide was a wealth of information too which was great.
So here is a ton of photos.... I had so much fun just shooting what I wanted :-)
Both Chloe and Jesse were so well behaved that all the people on the bus except for one couple commented on what lovely kids we have. They Nintendo'ed from winery to winery as you'll see!
We drove in to Nuriootpa (try saying that after a day of wine tasting) but had dinner in Angaston instead.
Weather was lovely, felt cool at 30C!

Oh - btw, check out the bocce balls on Chloe's feet! Don't ask cos I have no idea why she'd want to play like that! Don't forget to click on the pix to see them bigger. You can't see much otherwise.

Barossa Valley - Tanunda

Today we left Adelaide to go to the Barossa. We arrived at the resort which the kids found really exciting. They love exploring the new room! Not as swish as The Oaks Embassy but nice nevertheless.
It was another 40C day so we didn't do alot, besides being New Years Day, not much was open.
We ended up at the Tanunda Pub in their outdoor beer garden (which we had to ourselves). Paul had a couple of beers and I had 3 gin and tonics. Surprisingly I only blew .05 on the in pub breathalyser, I expected to have blown more.
Then I went inside to the pokies with $10, played a 1 cent machine (yep, I'm a big gambler) and walked out 15 mins later with $120!!! Yeehah - that was a lovely start to the New Year.
We came home, had dinner at the resort restaurant and went for another swim with the kids. I'm soooooo tired now!
Tomorrow we have booked a guided mini bus tour to see the wineries. I don't plan on getting wasted (got the kids to look after), but we don't want to have to worry about driving and being over the limit.
BTW - if you click on any of the pix you can see them bigger :-) The pix are in the beer garden and a couple at the pool here. Again just taken with the point and shoot....too hot to lug the big one around.

NYE 2007/2008

Today was the hottest Dec day in Adelaide for nearly 100 years! It was hot - we hardly noticed though as our room was set to 22C all day! We swam in the pool a couple of times and went and saw Enchanted at the cinema (which was also lovely and cold). It got to 42.4C - which is 108F for those reading this from the US!
Enchanted was just the most lovely movie - we all loved it.
Just got back from the pool where we watched the kids NYE fireworks. I'm posting a few photos of the kids at pool today. Excuse the quality but they were taken with my little kodak point and shoot so are real snapshots. The pool is on the 4th floor and overlooks North Tce. The kids have loved the pool and Jesse has really 'got' what all his swimming lessons have been for and is a little fish. I'm sure he has gills.

41.5C - geez!!
No pix today.
We just went for a drive around the suburbs to get a feel for the place. I don't know why everyone knocks Adelaide, its a lovely city.
We saw the AAMI stadium, went to the Westlake SC then came home. Drove around the 'affluent' areas, a nice relaxing day.
Paul and Chloe have just gone to the Art Gallery and Jesse is staying with me at the hotel while I finish off a job which I want to send tomorrow.

Glenelg Beach and 40 degrees

it was stinkin' hot today but can't say it felt too bad. We got up early and headed down to Glenelg beach and had a nice swim. Then mosied on down to the shopping precinct for a bit and had pies for lunch (gourmet and overpriced)!
Then we went to the Beach house which is a great fun centre with waterslides, rides, play centre for kids. The kids had a ball and as you'll see by the photos, were dripping with sweat.
Home to the hotel for another swim and spa, then Paul cooked sausages for dinner with some leftover salad and steamed veges. Already sick of eating out and hankering for yummy home stuff and fresh fruit and veg.
Check out the sweat on Jesse, beads on his nose and a big drip dripping down the side of his cheek! Oh yeah - and a pic of Paul on our balcony....we sit out there every nite and watch the sunset with a beer for Paul and a 'water in a wine glass' for me.
